This was a Burger King location in the Presidio. I can't imagine a fast food joint anywhere in America with a more dramatic view. The building, known as the Observation Post, dates to 1968. Over the years it was converted to a cafeteria, and finally a Burger King in the 1980's. It was closed around 1996, did some sporadic duty hosting private events, and the building was finally demolished in late 2018. What comes next? Nothing. And it's a good thing. The idea is to create 14 scenic acres of parkland over the new tops of the tunnels feeding the Golden Gate Bridge, linking the Main Post to Crissy Field.
