World-Class Headwear.

This colorful women's headscarf is a souvenir from the 1939 World's Fair held on Treasure Island in the middle of the bay. The Fair was popular enough to carry over into 1940. The man-made flat island had been planned to become SF Airport after the Fair ended. But WWII began soon after, and the military took over the island, swapping the City for the land that is now SFO.
