Welcome Back To The Academy Of Sciences.

An adult single admission to the Academy is $43.75! But if you're poor, and can prove it with a local Medi-Cal card, admission is only $3. Sweet!

There's a special exhibit on sharks. Some impressive life-size models were featured. This is a Great White above. But for an animal that must constantly keep moving to stay alive -- are static displays the way to go?

The Hammerhead shark. One strange-looking shark.

The average shark sheds 26,000 teeth during its life. That's 26,000 shark teeth pictured above.

The larger shark cage is full size. The smaller one was used in the filming of "Jaws." They put a small skin diver mannequin in it when filming footage in the waters off Africa. That made the surrounding real-life sharks look much bigger.

Nothing contrived about this exhibit. It features several battered display pieces with one thing in common: they each endured a ferocious Great White shark attack.

Here I am attracting orange fish.

A display in the African Hall. Some of these pieces are older than me.

Are today's kids getting softer, or do their parents love them more? All I know is there was never a safety net between you and the alligator when I was growing up. (That's Claude, the albino alligator waiting patiently below.)
