For decades there was a wax museum at Fisherman's Wharf owned by a private family. Besides historical figures, it had a lot of house-of-horror exhibits. Since Madame Tussauds purchased the museum, it seems to have focused more on celebrating San Francisco history, and featuring sports and entertainment celebrities. Also important, the figures are no longer behind barriers; you can walk right up and shoot your selfie with them. Outtakes below.
