Every year, beginning after Thanksgiving, a community Christmas tree beside Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park begins sprouting random adornments. Local residents hang a variety of colorful, shiny offerings, from tinsel garlands and traditional ornaments to beer cans and miniature liquor bottles. By Christmas Day, it's usually fairly lush.
