A more than century-old ceremony. Where the Powell Street cable car reaches the turntable at Market Street -- the end of the line. A couple operators will spin the car around on the turntable, and start it back in the opposite direction. Years ago, locals enjoyed helping the operators twirl the car around. Today the City frowns on the public helping. Also interesting in this photo is the extremely short line waiting on the cable car. This was taken during the winter, when demand is less. An open-air car is just not as enjoyable for most people when the air is cold and wet.
This Turntable Spins The Classics.
