Designing Chinatown.

A 1925 prospective design for new street lamps in Chinatown, part of the post-earthquake and fire rebuilding effort. Previously the buildings were fairly basic structures. Now a concerted effort was made to create a more exotic oasis, to western eyes, that would generate tourist traffic. This is in the SF History Room, 6th floor of the main pubic library in Civic Center Plaza.
